REPORT ON 4 DAYS CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM ON “3D MODELING AND PRINTING”
Capacity Building Program for Budding Entrepreneurs was organized on the topic “3D Modeling and Printing” by ACIC-MIF from 27/06/2022 to 30/06/2022. Around 36 budding entrepreneurs from different streams actively participated in the training program. Inaugural function was conducted on 27/06/2022 at 9.00 am in Facilitation Center, Industrial Safety block, MSEC. Dr.S.Syed Ameer Abbas, CEO- ACIC-MIF delivered the Welcome Address. Dr.P.Nagaraj, Senior Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering delivered the Chief Guest Address for the Entrepreneurs.
Dr.N.Rajesh Jesudoss Hynes, Associate Professor (Sr.Grade), Department of Mechanical Engineering took the brief session on the importance of Entrepreneurship and ACIC-MIF activities for the Budding Entrepreneurs. Program Instructor Mr.D.Jones Joseph Jebaraj, Assistant Professor (Sr. Grade) / Dept. of Mech Engg., briefly explained about the scope and training outcomes of the program.
After inauguration, the training started on Day 1 forenoon session covering the following topics, Introduction to Additive Manufacturing and types of additive manufacturing by Dr.R.Sankaranarayanan, Manager/ACIC-MIF. Next session on “Additive Manufacturing work flow” delivered by Dr.N.J.Vignesh, AP (Sr. Gr.)/Mech. Post lunch on Day 1, the participants were given Hands on training on CAD modelling by Mr.D.Jones Joseph Jebaraj, AP (Sr. Gr.)/Mech., Dr.N.Rajesh Jesudoss Hynes, ASP (Sr. Gr.)/Mech. and Technicians.
On Day 2 forenoon session, the participants were given training on Stereolithography by Mr.A.Raja, M.Tech., Co-Founder, Ideal3D, Chennai. In the afternoon session, the participants were given Hands on training on Stereolithography through Anycubic Photon Mono X 6K – UV LCD 3D printer purchased by ACIC-Mepco Innovative Foundation for Makerspace. Mr.A.Raja, M.Tech., Co-Founder, Ideal3D, Chennai handled the session and provided the live demo on Anycubic Photon Mono X 6K – UV LCD 3D printer and elaborated the step by step execution of 3D printing.
On Day 3 forenoon session, Mr.D.Jones Joseph Jebaraj, Assistant Professor (Sr. Grade), Department of Mechanical Engineering, MSEC handled sessions on “Entrepreneurship Opportunities in 3D printing” and “FDM Additive Manufacturing Process”. A session on “Challenges in additive manufacturing” was handled by Dr.R.Sankaranarayanan, Manager/ACIC-MIF. After lunch, hands on training were given on slicing for 3D printing and Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) based 3D Printing by Mr.D.Jones Joseph Jebaraj, Assistant Professor (Sr. Grade), Department of Mechanical Engineering, MSEC and Technicians.
On Day 4 forenoon session, Dr.N.Rajesh Jesudoss Hynes, Associate Professor (Sr.Grade), Department of Mechanical Engineering, MSEC delivered a special motivational session for participants regarding “Opportunities for startup through innovation”. Next session on “Reverse Engineering” was handled by Dr.N.J.Vignesh, AP (Sr. Gr.)/Mech.
Participants were given exposure on “Post processing in Additive manufacturing” by Mr.D.Jones Joseph Jebaraj, AP (Sr. Gr.)/Mech. Furthermore, Dr.N.Rajesh Jesudoss Hynes, ASP (Sr. Gr.)/Mech. and Mr.D.Jones Joseph Jebaraj, AP (Sr. Gr.)/Mech. provided hands on training on “Reverse Engineering” an indispensable part of 3D Printing technology.
After the successful training, the Valedictory function was conducted. Dr. R.Sankaranarayanan, Manager, ACIC-MIF delivered the vote of thanks. Feedback about the training session was recorded from the participants. Dr.N.Rajesh Jesudoss Hynes, ASP (Sr. Gr.)/Mech. delivered the valedictory address and distributed the certificates to the participants.
After attending the 4 Days Capacity Building Program on “3D Modeling and Printing”, observing the ACIC-MIF initiatives, activities and ACIC-MIF startup cells, some participants have shown interest towards starting up business and they are in pipeline of followup.
